Back at work today after horrid day yesterday when I got up in the morning, every joint in my body went "ping" and I couldn't quite walk properly so crawled back into bed post haste. Let Precious Husband drop Nugget off at nursery which I felt bad about because poor Nugget had a hacking cough and really I would have liked to keep him home, only I totally wasn't up to the challenge.
After a few hours of dead-to-the-world sleep I felt much better and more human.
Had a great idea for a new service (imagine me pitching this one on Dragon's Den). Let's call it TLC. You wake up one day feeling rotten and call in sick to work. Cue rest of day feeling weak, struggling around house, and feeling bad about the huge mounds of washing up you should really do now you're at home but don't feel up to at all. What if you could call a helper for the day who will come by to make you scrambled eggs on toast and cups of tea, do a little light housework, entertain the kids, and generally run errands and look after you until you're back on your feet? Sort of like a mum on an hourly rate. It could be a useful service for anyone who gets ill unexpectedly on a short term basis. They could even ring your boss for you, so you don't have to do the sick voice which always sounds fake even when it's absolutely real.
Okay, there are about a million practical flaws with that idea but I still like the concept.
