nice weekend. work fireworks, followed by yummy feeding by [info]gaspodia saturday lunch, giant fireworks at [info]vindolandias and today a big bang catch up, and currently enjoying wine and yummy cooking aromas at[info]matildabj s. Mmm. Wine. Pasta. Ooh, and not forgetting the fabby eggy toast [info]gaspodexmade this morning. Chances of fitting holiday wardrobe slim!!

I have just ordered radically non matching furniture (huge corner sofa for me, straight backed armchairs for the oldies) and am bucking the trend by having fabric, not leather, and a chaise end instead of a recliner. Well, it is only me. They can deliver a week Tuesday but I'll have to be up very early in case they do turn up at 8am...

With the exception of guest lounge tv, I think that is now me officially done. Well, it had best be, for I have run out of cash.

Egypt tomorrow! I love pre holiday airport. it is so much more exciting than business trip airport.

Right.  I have the job more or less sorted out.  Now it's time to sort out this whole being single thing.

I miss being in a relationship.  It was fun.  I want that feeling again.

Wish I had the faintest idea how to go about it.

So, I do a word count on Chianna...  11402 words.  Copy the story to Angelus.  over 100 words less!   Copy the file back to Chianna.  Now Chianna agrees.  Stop stealing my words!

Caught up some lost ground...  And sort of have some plot that I can still remember to write.

Trouble is, the story seems to be going in a slightly different direction.  My additional character made a very persuasive argument about what my highwayman needs to do.  Rewrote it, complete with an impassioned speech, and additional motivation of ethnic violence and severe social inequality, and my MC still refuses to deal with the problem.

My fictional country seems to have become 90's/2000's Yugoslavia.  It was quite definitely influenced by the region, but I seem to have split the place up more or less the same way, had aggression coming from the same direction, ethnic conflict in the same areas, even having hyperinflation in the same areas.  I'm not being all that explicit about this in the text, but I have made sure I have some idea of where things are happening.

Many of you types live in London.

Anyone want to do something after work?

OK - Why did no one tell me how good Season 7 of Spooks was ... I'd have watched it ages ago otherwise - poor old Ben though - still no one is safe..

***ETA of course it has meant I have not had to wait a year to resolve the obligatory cliffhanger ;-) ***

The empire strikes back

In recent weeks, we've taken huge steps towards blocking spam accounts on LiveJournal. In fact, we've suspended as many as 30,000 accounts in a single day! We've implemented several pre-emptive measures to prevent the creation of spam accounts, and we've honed our detection of suspicious content. Spam bots are a crafty lot, so we'll continue to refine our tactics and keep up the good fight to keep you safe from spam attacks on LiveJournal.

RSS feeds again

If you're addicted to [info]xkcd_rss, [info]icanhaschzbrgr, or other syndicated feeds, we're pleased to report that we've resolved the update error that was mucking up your RSS feeds. While content was being pulled correctly, it wasn't being posted to the feeds themselves. Late last week, we finally nailed down what we hope was the root problem, so content should post properly. We thank you for your patience.

Well, still on schedule at 8393 words.  This story is going nowhere near where I expected it to.  Main character is still way too reactive.  Seem to have stalled a subplot though.  Where can my MC find a type O blood donor at short notice?

Somewhere to sleep in London would be quite nice.

The epic commute is still pretty draining.  It's not terrible.  I get an hour each way to work on my nanonovel, which I'd be doing anyway.  In the past 3 days I've only written a couple of hundred words at home.  Currently on 6699 words

Work is relatively pleasant.

The chairs are rubbish, the technology we're using doesn't seem to work, and the commute is terrible.  Seems to be a lot more bearable since I know that after December I don't need to give a damn.
